Woo Hoo!!!

Jordan passed his driver's test today! He is now a licensed driver :) :) :) He proudly drove his brother and himself to youth group tonight.

Doug is having a much harder time with this than I am. He called me when they left. Ten minutes later he called Jordan (church is 6 min. away). He called me back LOL.

I am thrilled that I do NOT have to taxi him everywhere. It was getting exhausting and annoying to be the sole responsible person all week.

Way To Go Jordan !!!!!
Who wouldn't want hair like this?

Today Isaac asked me if I would flat iron his hair for church. He has thick, thick, curly hair. He washed it this morning so it would be dry, but it was still damp. Oh to have 1/3 of his hair!

This is 1/2 done. He wanted to see the contrast in length of curly/straight. 40 MINUTES later! The back is SO long! Lucky duck :)
Isn't he quite handsome??
He wouldn't let me take pictures with it sectioned and clipped on his head:::snort:::

I've been tagged!!

De'Etta tagged me the other day. I'm finally getting around to doing it.

Right behind the computer we have 8 bookshelves that house our SL books and various other school books. I just grabbed one from the top of the pile :)

The Rules:

~Pick up the nearest book of 123 pages

~Open the book to p. 123 and find the 5th sentence

~Post the next 3 sentences

~ Tag 5 people

I grabbed The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom.

Sentences 6-9 on p. 123 are this:

For the first time the man's eyes met mine.
"I'll never forget this," he said.
The amount was more than we had at the Beje so I sent Toos to the bank with instructions to hand the man money, but not to volunteer any information.

I have no idea who to tag:

1. Mom
2-5. Everybody who reads my blog :) Just leave me a comment so I can come and read your tag!

Some before and after pictures!!!

Allen and I went for haircuts today. At first Allen thought he would get his hair cut short! But then he changed his mind and got a trim. Sara said that my boys definately get their hair from their dad! Yep, lucky them! All 4 guys in my family have fabulous, thick, wonderful hair!!!!

I've been feeling old, fat and ugly. So I told Sara I wanted to change my color and get bangs. I had no idea what color I wanted. I told her I totally trust her judgement and do whatever. I love it! It is quite different and Doug won't recognize me when he comes home. But it feels rich and shiney. LOVE it! I think it really brings out my blue eyes.

Sunday Fried Chicken

My MIL gave me this recipe. It is so good and easy, too :) It is a homemade shake and bake kind of thing!

Sunday Fried Chicken

2 c. flour
1/2 c. cornmeal
2 T salt
2 T ground mustard
2T paprika
2 T garlic salt
1 T celery salt
1 T pepper
1 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. dried thyme
1/2 tsp. dried oregano

Bone-in chicken pieces OR boneless/skinless chicken pieces

Combine the first 11 ingredients. Place about 1 c. flour mixture in a large resealable plastic bag. Add a few chicken pieces to the bag at a time; shake to coat.

Heat a couple tablespoons of oil in a large skillet. Brown chicken on all sides; transfer to an ungreased baking pan.

Bake, uncovered, at 350 for 45-55 minutes (less for bl/sl) or until juice run clear.

Recipe makes enough coating for 3 whole chickens. Store unused mixture in airtight container.

Happy February!!!

Can you believe it??? January kind of flew by.

I'm trying to get back into a good school routine. We do it, but I don't want to. This is the worst year I've ever had. But we just keep on keeping on. If my kids were younger I'd be sorely tempted to be lazy and lax. But they are jr. and sr. high and we must push forward.

I turn 39 this month! Really :::snort::: I am sad that Doug won't be home. We were hoping he'd take a vacation day and we would go to a hotel and swim and see a movie or something with the boys. But with the accident taking money we didn't even have, we no longer are planning the fun overnight trip :(

We have a snow warning tonight. It snowed a little and then had freezing rain on top! It looks messy outside. I wonder if Jordan's driver ed teacher will cancel his driving today. He needs 4 more hours behind the wheel with an instructor. She has cancelled on us twice already, but not for weather. I'd rather he were home and safe than out driving, but I am ready for him to haev his license!

Sorry I've not blogged more frequently. It just seems redundent to post:

Got up
Did chores and breakfast
Did school
Took a nap
Took kids places
Feel icky today
Went to bed

Very boring LOL...........
